Jack T. Donson

Director of Case Management & Programs

Jack Donson is FedCURE's Director of Case Management & Programs. His duties include representing FedCURE and its advocacy. Monitoring and analyzing BOP Case Management & Programs activity for compliance with statutory law, identify issues impacting people incarcerated in the federal prison system, on post conviction supervision and the safety of the public, that require policy and or legislative reform.

Jack brings a wealth of working knowledge and experiences to FedCURE from his twenty-three (23) years of employment with the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, from where he retired in the summer of 2011. During that time, he held positions as a Correctional Treatment Specialist, Case Management Coordinator and Unit Manager.

Jack's institutional duty experiences are diverse and include: Federal Prison Camp (minimum custody), Federal Correctional Institution (low and medium custody), Administrative and Witness Security (WITSEC) Units. Jack also had duty assignments and responsibilities in the Philadelphia Regional Office and the New York City Community Corrections Office.

During his tenure, Jack worked with BOP Program Review Division teams auditing facilities throughout the Northeast region. Served on the bureau's Hostage Negotiations Team; and as annual training instructor and staff mentor for over twenty (20) years, receiving two national awards: The Correctional Treatment Specialist of the Year and Excellence in Community Corrections and Detention Center Operations.

Donson participated in writing work groups, crafting national policy issues on Security Designation and Custody Classification Manual, the Protective Custody Unit Manual; and the work group writing the bureau's first policy on pretrial detention.

Prior to his employment with DOJ/BOP, he was a parole officer in the State of Pennsylvania where he supervised a caseload and wrote pre-sentence reports. Jack has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/Anthropology and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Public Administration. He has an Honorable Discharge from the US Army where he served as a Military Policeman and Stinger Missile Gunner.

Aside from his duties at FedCURE, Jack is the operating owner of a private consulting company; and serves on the Corrections Committees of the NACDL and ABA. He was recently hired as an adjunct professor for Marywood University, Scranton, PA and will begin teaching in the spring of 2013.
