Jana V. Jay, J.D., Board Member
Jana graduated
cum laude from the University of Florida with a bachelor's in
political science. She is a member of the Beta of Florida chapter
of Phi Beta Kappa and a graduate of the University of Florida'
School of Law. She is admitted to practice law in Florida as well
as in the United States Southern, Middle Districts of Florida,
11th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Jana's
areas of practice include general civil practice, commercial litigation,
insurance defense, family law, and of course criminal law, particularly,
federal criminal appellate practice.
She is the Executive
Director of The Legal Aid Society of Collier County since 2000,
providing free family law services to indigent residents of Collier
County. Jana has been married to a federal inmate since 1991,
and has been by his side since his arrest in 1990. She wrote her
husband's appellate brief and represented him in all post-conviction
proceedings. She has been a tireless advocate for him in all Bureau
