Stephen C. Richards, Ph.D., Board Member

Stephen is a Professor of Sociology and Criminology at Northern Kentucky University. He is a Soros Senior Justice Fellow and member of the American Society of Criminology National Policy Committee, and American Correctional Association National Research Council. Stephen is one of the leaders of the Convict Criminology group. Having served a 9 years sentence for Distribution of Marijuana, is intimately familiar with all aspects of the Bureau of Prisons. Some of his recent work includes Behind Bars: Surviving Prison (Alpha) and Convict Criminology (Wadsworth) with Jeffrey Ian Ross. Stephen holds a Ph.D. from Iowa State University, M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and BS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
